It’s finally that time of year where the sun is still shining late into the day and we can enjoy the beautiful weather. Though this is a beautiful time when the flowers start to bloom and green returns to the trees, our skin doesn’t always react well to change. Below are some tips on how to care for your skin to keep it healthy as winter turns to spring.
- Exfoliate
What better way to welcome spring and more sunshine than exfoliating the dead, dry winter skin cells away? Use a gentle, natural ingredient-based cleanser that’s free of artificial fragrances, harmful surfactants/detergents, and harsh chemicals. Follow your cleanser with a toner to deep clean your pores, hydrate, exfoliate, nourish, and remove any last traces of grime.
- Incorporate a serum
Of course, you have your cleanser, exfoliator, moisturizer, and sunscreen, but what’s missing? A serum! Serums are a highly concentrated mixture of active ingredients and can help your skin appear more plump, softer, and smoother. For an added bonus, try rolling a chilled Jade Roller over your skin to help your skin absorb the serum even further.
- Use a nightly eye cream
Dark under-eye circles have you down? As the days get longer, we want to stay out in the sunshine as long as we can. In addition to getting 8 hours of sleep, try dabbing an eye cream on those under-eye circles when you go to bed. The skin under your eyes is extremely sensitive, and eye creams can help to nourish this delicate area to fight puffiness and eye fatigue.
- Sunscreen, always
This is a go-to beauty rule that anyone will tell you to follow. Sunscreen not only protects against potentially harmful UV rays, but it can help prevent dark spots and fine lines. Be sure to get a sunscreen with at least an SPF 30 and one that won’t clog your pores. Your skin will thank you while you’re in the sun—and after, too!
- Switch to a lighter moisturizer
During the cold winter months, we always use a heavier moisturizer to compensate for either dry weather or the drying effects of indoor heating. Depending on your climate, warmer temperatures can mean higher humidity, which can lead to more oily skin. Switching to a lighter moisturizer can help to prevent oil buildup on the skin. You’ll also be helping to prevent oily shine and instead will have that healthy glow you always dreamed of!
By following these five simple tips, you will be springing into healthy, glowing skin in no time.
