More and more people are working from home nowadays. For some, it’s just part of their normal schedule. Others have to adjust to the new normal of blending together their work and home environments. And when your house is your office, there can be so many distractions making it hard to focus on your work. So, we asked some of our Shaklee Distributors what tips and advice they could give for working from home. Here’s what they had to say.
What advice do you have for all of us just starting to work from home?
Try to stick to a schedule. If working out was part of your lifestyle before, make the time and space for it now. I also like to get up before everyone else to set up my day. Having “me” time and intentionally setting up my day help me stay on track and keep me productive, especially when I’m interrupted by my kids. If I have a plan, I can get back to it even after disruption. – Cindy (@yourbestlife_with_cindy)
Have the whole family’s activities in front of you. This could include the kids’ online school times, business calls or Zoom meetings, exercise times, etc. Write out a realistic schedule so that no one gets left out—including the dog! Her walk times go on the schedule too. Don’t forget to schedule play time too. After all this is added to the calendar, I block out pockets of time to do my Shaklee income-producing activities. – Leslie (@lesleyloveyourlife)
Enjoy the extra time at home, whether it is by spending more time outdoors, knocking out some home projects, focusing on your health goals, or spending more time with your family. Your daily routine may be different, but you can take advantage of being home. – Rachel (@rh_healthandwellness)
Have a plan but also the ability to throw it out the window. Knowing what your priorities are each day is key, but so is flexibility when things don’t get done. – Tracy (@tracyfixen)
What is your work from home mantra?
In our home we have a saying that goes, “Will this situation even matter in five years from now?” If yes, then we deal with it the best we can. If no, then we laugh and forget about it. – Leslie
I have two! Pencil it in and focus on your top 3! Too often, I lose track of time and then I wonder where my day went! “Pencil it in” helps me practice time-blocking and making the most of my schedule, especially with 3 little ones! My second mantra helps me to identify my top 3 goals for the day so that if my day doesn’t go as planned, I know that I don’t have to give myself a hard time for not doing “all the things.” – Laura (@growth_in_process)
Find the joy in everything! – Rachel
Stay focused; no squirreling. If I am able to stay focused for even short bouts of time, I’m more likely to accomplish the tasks I identified earlier in that morning. Lack of focus will derail me, and I’ll have a harder time getting back on track, leaving me frustrated. – Cindy
