Shaklee is about bringing true wellness to the world, and one of the ways we do that is by giving people the opportunity to make wellness their business. Our Shaklee Stories series puts the spotlight on a few of the many Shaklee Ambassadors who’ve built their own successful wellness business with us and the impact it has had on not only their lives but the lives of others.
As a first-generation American, Tif began her journey with Shaklee in her early 20s. She was introduced to Shaklee by her mom and started to use the products. In college she looked for ways to build financial stability after her family struggled following the 2008 recession. Tif decided to start her own independent business which she has grown steadily for over 10 years. In this interview, Tif shares about her Cambodian background and its history. She also shares about her desire to reach out to her Cambodian community and others to offer them a different perspective on wellness, success, and life itself. Read all about Tif’s story below or watch the interview video here.
Tif’s Story
My name is Tif. I’m from Long Beach, California. And I’ve been a Shaklee ambassador for 11 years.
In terms of my Cambodian community, if people didn’t know…we come from a background of genocide. We’re refugees, and I’m a first-generation American. But the majority of the immigrants here work really, really hard, and they have this idea that working hard and surviving is the most that they can do. And what they fail to recognize is by the time the kids are out of college that they themself have run themselves to the ground, working their businesses and all that…they’re physically tired. They’re mentally tired. Emotionally [they] haven’t processed some of the things that they’ve endured. They lived lifetimes by the time they journeyed over to America and created what they created for their children and their grandchildren. And so, what we’re able to provide at a small grassroots level is the ability to feel good. And that in itself sometimes is such a stretch. Such a reach.
And so, when we help people feel good, now we’ve increased their capacity to experience new levels of awareness. And so, when they experience new levels of awareness, now they see what else is possible. So, most of our Cambodian community…prioritize working really hard versus working smarter and utilizing systems and leveraging a company like Shaklee.
And so, what we’re able to provide to our community then is the energy, vitality, the capability, the capacity to actually see that there’s a life for them that is so much more fulfilling and rewarding, and they don’t have to struggle and survive each day. They can truly thrive. It’s obviously something I’m really passionate about. But there’s just so many layers, like incredibly…nuanced layers that come from simply using products, feeling better, and then building a team around that. It’s just…it’s amazing.
My mom and I believe that health is for everyone and the opportunity for health is for everyone. And there’s just so many more people that we can help; I don’t think it’s just about Cambodians. But I think it goes for any type of family that wants to…do things differently.
