A Science-Based Approach to Quality Testing

Maintaining such high quality requires a precise and science-driven approach. We conduct more than 100,000 tests across our product portfolio annually, using our in-house laboratory and qualified and trusted third-party laboratories. This ensures validation of our results and full transparency in our quality assurance process.

One of the advanced methods we use is QuEChERS (pronounced “catchers”), an advanced screening technique that allows us to detect more than 350 potential contaminants. Every new botanical ingredient that enters our supply chain is subjected to over 350 harmful contaminant tests, ensuring that only the purest and safest ingredients are used in our products. This advanced screening technique is proof of our commitment to product purity and safety.

Compliance with these agencies requires strict oversight and continuous monitoring, but we don’t stop there. We’ve also developed over 40 proprietary validated methods, each meticulously designed and rigorously tested. Many of these tests have since been adopted by the broader industry, helping to raise the bar for quality across the board.

What We Test For

Each of our products undergoes a comprehensive battery of tests to ensure they are safe, effective, and free from unwanted contaminants. These tests include:

Heavy Metals Testing

We screen for harmful metals such as lead, mercury, arsenic, and cadmium that could pose health risks.

Microbiological Testing

We verify that our products are free from harmful bacteria, yeast, and mold. This is particularly important for supplements and skin care items that come into direct contact with the body.

Potency Testing

We confirm that the active ingredients in our products match the amounts listed on the label. This guarantees that consumers receive the full benefits of each ingredient as promised.

Physical Property Testing

This involves checking characteristics such as texture, thickness, hardness, and dissolvability to ensure product consistency and usability. For instance, tablets and capsules must dissolve properly to allow for optimal absorption in the body.

Organoleptic Testing

This involves taste and smell.  For example, we conduct taste and smell tests on our bars, shakes, and energy powder to ensure taste and smell are consistent from batch to batch. We compare the newly produced batch to an established set of internal standards.

We use a combination of validated testing methods from the United States Pharmacopeia (USP), the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC), and our own in-house methods. We also confirm the purity and potency of raw ingredients to ensure they maintain their nutritional value throughout the production process. Every raw material we use undergoes an average of 19 quality checks before being approved for production. We’ve also partnered with the Environmental Working Group (EWG) to ensure our personal care products meet the most rigorous health and safety standards. This partnership underscores our commitment to creating clean, nontoxic products for everyday use.

How We Maintain the Highest Quality

Our Quality, Analytical Chemistry, and Product Development teams work diligently to uphold these high standards. Even after production, we continue to test our products to guarantee safety and efficacy.

Before a product is released from our distribution center, it must pass 11 additional quality checks. These final checks verify that each product remains stable, properly packaged, and true to its intended formula. We also conduct routine site visits to our manufacturing facilities to ensure Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed at every step of the process.

Beyond our internal oversight, we believe in complete transparency. We share our research findings and quality testing results with the scientific community and regulatory bodies, contributing to a broader understanding of supplement safety and efficacy.
