In Fall, the days are shorter and the weather is chillier, but that doesn’t mean you have to stay indoors! There are plenty of outdoor activities that the weather still permits, making Fall just as good as Spring and Summer to focus on health and wellness goals. So, fight the temptation to go into “hibernation mode” and try a few of these outdoor Fall activities.
Hike through nature.
Depending on where you live, Fall can bring so many colors and scenery to the world around you. Whether you are going for a quick walk or an all-day adventure, a hike is a great way to enjoy nature in its full Fall glory.
Take a bike ride.
Not a fan of hiking? You can still enjoy the Fall colors on a bike ride through the neighborhood or out on the trails. The best thing about exploring on a bike is that you can go farther than you might on foot
Sign up for a themed run.
There are many holiday events going on in the Fall, giving you the opportunity to get active and get out there. Sign up for a Fall-themed run to add some extra fun and motivation to your workout.
Have a picnic in the park.
The weather is cooler, but that doesn’t mean you can’t have a lunch in the park under a canopy of golden leaves. Pack a picnic blanket, a few sandwiches, and maybe even some Fall treats like apple cider, pumpkin spice muffins, or pecan pie, and have the perfect Fall picnic with your loved ones.
Go to the farmer’s market.
There are many fruits and vegetables in season that are the best in Fall. Visit a local farmers’ market for a fresh selection of nutritious food, and don’t forget to bring extra bags!
Pick your own apples or pumpkins.
If you want to have more of an experience, try going to a U-Pick farm to pick your own apples right off the tree, or drop by a pumpkin patch and choose your favorite pumpkins. The best part is making something out of what you picked, like freshly baked apple or pumpkin pie!
Visit a Fall festival.
There are always fairs and events dedicated to this time of the year. Check out what events are happening in your area and go enjoy the festivities, shopping, Fall treats, and quality time with your friends and family.
Go to a football game.
You know it’s that time of the year! Put on your hats and scarves and head out to your local football game. It doesn’t matter if it’s a high school, college, or professional game, get out there and represent your favorite team.
Remember, you don’t have to limit outdoor activities to a few times of the year. Get outside and enjoy these activities and the Fall season!
